Press Release: The 100 Percenters and Safe Music Business Initiative Respond to Sean Combs’ Verdict (For Immediate Release)
[Los Angeles, CA] – [July, 2025] – While the jury found Sean Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, this partial verdict is still a devastating blow to survivors and a sobering reminder that the justice system is not built to protect the vulnerable. It is built to protect the powerful.
This moment is not just about one man. It is a mirror held up to a music industry that has long enabled, protected, and rewarded abusers. For decades, unchecked power and predatory behavior have been hidden behind platinum plaques, million-dollar deals, and a culture of silence. This verdict confirms what we already knew: in this system, truth is not enough.
We honor every survivor who came forward. You risked everything, told the truth, and shifted the culture in ways that cannot be undone. Your courage has ignited a reckoning that no verdict can silence.
We also want to thank The Honorable Judge Subramanian for his decision to deny Sean Combs bail pending sentencing. That ruling sent a clear message: the safety of survivors, witnesses, and the broader public must be prioritized over celebrity and power. Accountability must mean something.
But where is the music industry? Their failure to act is complicity. And their silence tells survivors exactly where they stand.
The 100 Percenters and the Safe Music Business Initiative remain unwavering in our mission to dismantle these systems of harm. We once again call on every music company, studio, executive, and institution to take immediate action: adopt the Safe Music Business Pledge, order a Stop Abuse In Music poster for your spaces, implement zero-tolerance policies, and center the safety and dignity of music creators.
This fight is far from over. We are not backing down. We are not going away. We are building a safer music business, whether the industry is ready or not.

About The 100 Percenters
Founded in 2020, The 100 Percenters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fighting for the rights and safety of music creators. We exist to protect the most exploited voices in the industry, especially songwriters, who are too often underpaid, unheard, and unprotected.
We push for fair pay, credit, and ownership. We offer resources, education, and a community that defends its own. We hold the industry accountable when it fails the people who power it.
We are not just calling for change. We are building it. And we will not stop until every creator is valued, protected, and paid what they are worth.
